Richard Tice & John Longworth: “The sooner Britain leaves the EU, the sooner we can crystallise the benefits of Brexit.”

Date: 17 09 2017

Responding to the BusinessEurope letter, Richard Tice and John Longworth, Co-Chairs of Leave Means Leave said:

“We welcome the calls from other business leaders to accelerate the Brexit negotiations.

“Leave Means Leave have been calling for talks to be sped up for some time. The sooner Britain leaves the EU, the sooner we can crystallise the benefits of Brexit.

“We disagree however with the other business leaders call for a transition period of up to three years.

“This is completely unnecessary – a maximum transition of one year is more than adequate if needed at all.

“Crucially, any transition should not be blanket, it should only relate to specific issues.

“The single market and customs union must not be transitioned – Britain must leave these in March 2019.”
